Evaluation and Adaptation of Open Source Software.
The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) funded a major series of distance education (DE) technology research and development studies across Asia. From 2005-08, nine projects are being conducted in 14 countries, involving collaboration between approximately 19 educational institutions and non-governmental organisations. Sponsored by the IDRC’s PAN Asia Networking Programme, the mega-project is known as ‘PANdora’.
Evaluation and Customization of Open Source Software for DE in Asia.
The objectives of this project are to evaluate existing distance learning (DL) software, both commercial and open source (OS), and to identify suitable software that can be customized to meet specific needs of educational institutions in Asian region. The customization would include individual institutional requirements of the system, as well as language localization, of the partner countries involved in the project (i.e. Mongolia – lead, Sri Lanka-partner, Indonesia-partner, and Vietnam-partner).
(Partner teams: Indonesia, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Viet Nam).
